SCC-POL-012 · Version 1.0

Environmental Policy

Applies to: All operations, workers and subcontractors

1. Commitment

Strata Cleaning Co is committed to protecting the environment, including the prevention of pollution, in the way we clean. This policy is the policy statement of our Environmental Management System (EMS), which conforms to AS/NZS ISO 14001:2016 and forms part of our Integrated Management System (SCC-IMS-001). It is appropriate to the nature, scale and environmental impacts of our cleaning services and provides the framework for our environmental objectives (SCC-IMS-003). We will:

  1. Comply with environmental laws and client environmental requirements.
  2. Identify our environmental aspects (chemical use, water, energy, waste, fuel) and control their impacts.
  3. Prefer products that are concentrated, low-toxicity and certified (e.g. GECA or equivalent) where they meet cleaning and hygiene standards.
  4. Reduce waste and support each building's recycling and waste-separation systems.
  5. Prevent pollution of stormwater and soil.
  6. Train workers in environmental practices and set objectives for improvement.
  7. Fulfil our compliance obligations (SCC-REG-002) and manage our significant environmental aspects (SCC-REG-001).
  8. Continually improve the EMS to enhance environmental performance, considering a life-cycle perspective and climate change.

2. What workers must do

  • Chemicals: use the correct dilution (dosing systems where provided); never pour chemicals or dirty water into stormwater drains, gardens or car park drains — use the designated sink/sewer outlet as the site allows; dispose of empty containers and unused chemicals as the SDS and the site direct (SCC-PRO-001).
  • Spills: contain and clean up spills immediately using the spill kit; report spills that reach drains or soil as incidents.
  • Waste: separate waste into the building's streams (general, co-mingled recycling, paper/cardboard, organics, e-waste where provided). Do not contaminate recycling bins. Report contaminated or overflowing bins to the building manager.
  • Water and energy: use only the water needed; switch off lights, taps and equipment when finished, as the site requires; report leaks and running toilets.
  • Microfibre and laundry: wash cloths and mop heads efficiently (full loads, appropriate temperatures) and dispose of worn items responsibly.
  • Vehicles: plan routes to reduce driving; switch engines off when stationary.

3. Monitoring

Chemical purchasing, waste issues and environmental incidents are reviewed by management. Clients may request environmental reporting.
